Better late than Neutered.Sorry for this super late entry but it's really hard to draw when you are being hit repeatedly with a frying pan. (Just kiddin honey. Easy joke.) Anyway,...this is my preliminary drawing for the ,..." When i grow up " theme. ( And you thought it was 'kids at play.") Being the wisenheimer i was as a child, i would often tell those who asked that i was going to be a " Playboy photographer " when i grew up.(And yes i also fantasized i would be thinner as well.)

Ahoy hoy,

Well, I missed last weeks, and missing this weeks was killing me but I managed to get something kinda done.

So when I was a kid my old man used to make stuff out of wood for me, since the family trade was carpentry/ cabinet making I used to get really cool stuff. So When I wanted to be a Cowboy He made me Pistolas. It was so much fun taking out Lee Van Cleef, for all the gold. "Blonde! you you sonofa... Wah wooWAH! Sorry Tuco.

getting older versus growing up. this is something that has been weighing on me lately, i stop and look around to realize that i am getting close to 30, 30!!!

i know that its not really that old, but still, you never really think that youll ever be that old when youre younger.

so i came across another art blog:

http://www.outsiderartclub.blogspot.com/

their prompt was "when i grow up" and i thought about what the ten or fifteen year old me would think of who i am now .

honestly, i dont know

Well I hope to work up to doing full color finished sketches soon. I just landed my frist full time animation job, so I can stop worrying about that and maybe get a little more art time in during my free time. I was the crazy daydreamer when I was a kid, so here are a few pen drawings of things I use to day dream about.

"Garbage Man"
Here's another idea I had for this theme. You know how your family says they will love you no matter what you decide to do in life - even if you decide to be a garbage man? Well, I thought it would be fun to picture myself as a garbage man - but not the humdrum job where filth is nasty, but instead trash is a ton of fun! There's an endless amount of crap to play with - and I would get to hang out with my muppet pal Oscar! That's right - I'm in my underwear again.

In kindergarten I remember explaining that "I wanted to be a robot builder and do art on the side." Yep, my whole life was squared away by recess.

Later I learned that I didn't have the desire to be an engineer and learn all sorts of complicated math and science. I didn't even like doing my times tables so why would I want to do it for a living? Still love robots though, so it looks like I'm livin' plan B - which was really plan A all along anyway.

Bonus points if you recall the toy robot my drawing is loosely based off of. It's an oldie I had when I was a tot and earlier versions existed as far back as the 60s.

So I was torn as a child. Between being a break dancer and Rambo. Both would gain me fame and notoriety, and both could get me killed. So it was a toss up and now I'm an artist. My mother once said, "I'm so glad you never went into the military". Tell that to our troops when the war could have been over years ago with 2nd Battalion "Pop and Lock Killers". We'd have our own patches. (I'll repost a color version soon)

Wow, ok so I did this super fast so it's nothing special but I did add color. When I was in about 3rd grade I decided I wanted to be president, but then someone told me that if that's what I wanted to be then I should be a lawyer. Then I decided I'd rather be a judge (Probably on the supreme court). Of course Judges start out lawyers too, but the end goal is what matter most to me. Besides, Ryan said no lawyers ^.~

When I was little I wanted to be a Velociraptor. I use to want to be a ninja turtle, but then they came out with a new series that had a girl turtle and she was totally lame. So when Jurassic Park came out and I was like "Awesome...Raptors!" They're smart and they can kick some ass, Dr. Grant doesn't stand a chance and either does the blueman group.

OK, this took longer to post than it took to actually draw... here goes...
In middle school, aspirations of becoming a professional basketball player creeped up into my 6' lanky noggin...

you can't hold me!

he shoots he scores!

in yo fizzace!

Soon my dreams would be crushed by the reality of "West Side Chicago Public School" competition, and insanely gifted athletes...
All for the best though... cause I probably would have suffered my nasty ACL injury during my peak years, sidelining me, and eventually proving to be too big an obstacle to overcome...

the term "break a leg" does not apply to professional sports...

It all works out in the end though. I've never really been any good managing my money, and would probably be doing "Title Loan" commercials with Dennis Rodman and MC Hammer...
God knows what he's doing...

Why didnt I just work at WMS?!?

When I was a kid I loved three things: giant robots, bloodthirsty dinosaurs, and professional wrestling. And I should've added some hair to the little referee version of me, because I never thought I'd be bald. :)

WHEN I WAS ABOUT TWELVE, my family took a vacation to Disney World. I had already been gravitating towards art for the past several years, so my parents humored me by taking part in a tour of the now-defunct Disney 2D Animation Studios, Home of the Imagineers.

Staring through the glass at those guys making the movies I so admired, I knew what I wanted to do. Granted, Lion King was still in production, so 3D hadn't made much of an appearance in animated films yet, but that was the beginning. My goals have since been modified slightly, but the urge to inspire emotion through motion has always been the cornerstone of my passions, I suppose.

So there I am in a parellel universe, immersed in a void of my own concentration, scribbling away as a full-fledged Imagineer. Enjoy!

I've been told that when grown-ups would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I used to say I wanted to be a bird. Unfortunately, I couldn't get into any of the good bird schools after high school, so I eventually had to fall back on the art thing.

The ideas just weren't flowing for me this time - even in my earliest memories (around kindergarten) I wanted to be an artist, and have never wanted to be anything else. So, I succeeded, I suppose! Unfortunately, that doesn't make for a very interesting drawing...

Around the theme of what I wanted to be when I grew up is this sketch of an evil genius in the mode of the Blofeld as depicted by Charles Gray in the Bond films.

Yeah, I'm lame. I always wanted to be an artist. But I also always wanted to be The Greatest American Hero (minus the flying-into-brick-walls bit). So here's the sketch for what may just be the most ambitious little drawing I've done this week--you'll see what I mean on (fingers crossed!) Friday. As a small plug, I've just posted the finished version of the "Pirate/Zombie" picture on my blog. Please feel free to have a look and maybe leave some feedback. Keep it up, everyone!!!

This is how I pictured this weeks theme. Sometimes I just like making comic strips. I still have the last panel to do, I have a couple ideas for it but im not sure which one to pick. I'll leave it a surprise. YAY surprises!!
