If only I had ...

Eight legs and a samurai sword. It would be amazing.

Badly Drawn Boy...

One of the first signs of aging, in my experience, is a sense of social responsibility; as I was inking this last night in a crowded Bakers Square, surrounded by rampaging children, I found myself covering up much of the figure below with a napkin; I guess out of fear that I might scar one of them--or, more likely, that one of their parents might scar me for drawing "pornography" around their little angels. In any case, I felt old and ugly and rather worthless, and I think it all came out in the work. Happy Holidays!

If Only I Were Chocolate!

I do agree that it's a little disturbing, but what can I say, I was desperate for chocolate!

This is my first posting! One of the first things that popped into my head when I saw the assignment was "What if I were really chocolate?" Then I thought I would just take a couple of bites out of myself! I do plan on coloring this picture. I would love to see how it turns out.

Talk to the animals!

If only I could talk to animals.
Especially my dog, I'm sure she has a lot to say!

I can fly! (I wish!)

I didn't have as much time to do a nice pic this week, so all I have is this train sketch. I would like to find some time to fix the composition a bit and pose it out better, but it will have to do for now.

If Only I Could Swim!

Here it is colored!

I've been waiting to post this all week (until I color it) but seeing the previous post, I've gotta blog it now! I have always wanted to be able to swim. When I was little, I wanted to be a dolphin trainer- I even took swimming classes- but I'm a sinker!

If I only had Selectable Animal Attributes! I'd show those dumb chicago bikers! I recently got hit by a guy on a bicycle, because he didn't stop at a stop sign while I was walking across the street. I hate chicago bikers that don't obey the rules of the road. So this one goes out to that dumb biker. I would use the selectable animal attributes to scare the living crap out of people. In this pic I have shark teeth, a monkey tail, gorilla strength and I would be yelling like some big animal roar type voice. The perfect recipe for stirring up involeentary BM's. I don't like the bike guy I drew (because I drew it in 2 seconds) thats why I didn't spend anytime on him. Someday in the future I'll finish the whole scene.
I've never done a self portait before, and I enjoyed it!

Week 17

If I Only Had A...
Outsider Art Club, session 117

Sorry for the two week delay guys. There's been a shortage of themes for the last two weeks due to clubmates not sending in themes. (More on that further down.) I've been racking my brain for another theme and here's the best one I have. Sung to the tune of the Scarecrow from Wizard of Oz:

If I Only Had A...

What ability, skill, or extra body part do wish you could have? The Scarecrow wanted a brain, the Tinman wished for a heart; what would you wish for if you could have anything? This question has been the inspiration for countless classic stories over time,so maybe it can do the same for us. Always wanted to fly? Wish you could speak any language? Have you always wanted to be like Scott Baio in the classic 80's movie Zapped!? Now's the week to let the club know! Draw yourself using the power you always wished you had.

So there it is. It's basically a cheap ploy to try to put a face to the myriad of new names over to the right. Also, it's the only thing I could think of for another theme: I can only make up so many of these on my own! :) So I'm going to try a new tactic that will hopefully kill two problems with one e-mail. There's a lot of you on that there sidebar that haven't contributed in awhile. Whether it's posting a drawing, commenting on others work, or submitting a theme, the OAC is built on the clubmates contributing. With that in mind, I'll be sending out an e-mail tomorrow asking each of you to send in an idea or two so that we can build up a pool of themes to pick from each week. If I don't get a response and you haven't posted a drawing or commented in the last four themes, I'm yanking ya off the list. Not because I hate ya, but because I want everyone in the club to be contributing. Sound good?

Then get to drawing!
