Not too shabby. This guy reminds me of one of those Fisher Price pirate toys - mainly the big gun.
My only criticism might be to make the brains look more like brains - without the sign there I may not know exactly what they are.
Sharp bright colors - adds a very safe element to it. Could be a kids book about a pirate keeping brains in a box.
Flat-bottom clouds make the world go round. That should be a song.
I dig a lot of the designy elements here - the spiral sun, the clouds, the implied shadows, etc. Nice pose too with his pelvis/buckle jutting out like any self-respecting pirate.
