Rough animation

this is a little out of the subject
this was a rough animation to the flash animators, the action is like two characters are chased by bees and they jumps into the water. I made this on Flash

One of the best things about Flash for traditional animators (and even 3D animators) is it gives you a chance to rough pencil test on the fly. You can get some scribbles down and in a matter of moments you have some timing to feel out action or stage a scene. I'm just really happy to see a new post :)

Anyway, I see you put some thought into the test. 2 kids - 2 swarms of bees. They run forward in a wavy pattern and then one just dives into the lake where the other (possibly younger) kid is more hesitant. If there was one thing that I might change would be to add more time to the first kid to really read the jump into the water. It's possible the timing could still work if the first kid has a few hop jumps before the final jump to prep the viewer.

The bees forming into one big swarm is a cool idea.

You still have a lot of options for tweaking the timing, but you are off to a good start.

How did you post the Flash test? I'm currious because It looks like it's playing well and it seems like an effective method for displaying animation.

Thanks for posting,
Dave

I agree with Dave. This is a very cute piece. But the viewer does need a little bit more time to register the first jump. Maybe if you even have the first kid to either run a little bit slower or have the first kid hold a little bit before he jumps into the water.

But I really like it. Cute idea! The younger kid is just perfect.

thanks for you comments dave. in the previous shot the first kid hit the bee hives and was chased by swarms of bee. But the second kid(is actually a fish character)follows the first one, and i just put a feel there like the first one(human) knows about bees so he did'nt want to wait and look at the bees. so he rush and jumps into the water and the second one waited and and jumps into the water. yes your point works, the timing lacks thanks for you comments i'll work on that

Wow - nice new post! I had to watch it a few times to understand the swarm(s) of bees but I think it'll read alirght in execution.

I have a lot of agreeing to do too. I thought the same about the first jump - maybe there could be a smidge more time there. Though now that you've said that boy is the reason for the swarms it makes sense that he'd be quick to get in the water.

Great to see! You really are the keeper of bees.
