Windy City Rollers T-Shirt Contest

If anyone's interested, Chicago's roller derby team is having a t-shirt design contest. Illustrator, 4 colors max. No money, but you get season tickets. The deadline is March 19.

More information here:

I went to the Roller Derby on Saturday, by the way. A Great Time. They clobbered Fort Wayne in every way except, I believe, graphic design. So good luck all.

I've been to a couple games before they moved to the new venue. Great fun even if it fake like wrestling. Though nowadays I hear the blood is real...

None of the all-girl roller derby leagues that are taking over the US faster than Britney can check out of rehab are "fake like wrestling". It's all real. Real sport. Real potential for injuries. Real strategies. Real short skirts. Those chicks ROCK.

I've been powned!!1!

I better set this straight - the last thing I want is a pack of angry girls trackin' me down. Wait...

...I don't doubt the injuries (bumps, bruises, blood, etc.) and I know it's a real game they're playing out there.

But I guess I should have specified the showmanship was definitely more along the lines of Randy Savage vs. Hulk Hogan. Grabbin' the mic away from the announcer and yelling harsh words and clever quips at each other then slappin' their rear to cap it off. Not to mention the "penalty games" they would play.

It's all in fun and it is a good time. 9 times out of 10 I'd rather see short skirted girls on roller skates over sweaty guys in underwear anyway ;)

We don't do that stuff anymore... That was first season, and at first we thought it was necessary to fill seats, but we quickly found our fans were there for the game, not the crap. We ditched the silly penalties, the fake fights, and the track announcer/interviews. All sport, all real. Come out to Cicero and see. Saturday April 28th we play one of Seattle's teams.
