The Royal Family

This idea is from a few weeks back. I didn't really design a set of playing cards, but the topic did generate this idea of a "Royal" family. I sketched up this forelorn King, and I originally had this nagging Queen next to him. I just didn't like the composition, so I changed the Queen to a spoiled Prince riding a horse. I wonder if it was coincidence that this card topic was for Week 21.

Very creative! I love how you used the elements of the cards throughout the piece. Great texture too!

Great colors Dave. Oranges and pinks work so well together. And yeah, like Catherine said - it's like a Where's Waldo of various card suits. I like the Prince's hat too. For whatever reason I feel like it has a lot of shape/volume - must be the way those zig-zaggy lines are positioned. However, I still wanna slap the grin off his face.

Very well thought out. I really like the Kings Club hair. And how you use the suits everywhere. Very beautifully done. One thing though, i thought the horse looked more like a camel. I dont know if its the skinny legs or how the head is done.
